Natural Tips: CasaGIN
Quante scelte affrontiamo ogni giorno?
Natural Ways to Sleep Better
A restful night’s sleep is the best remedy for the stresses and challenges of everyday life, but sometimes we just can’t seem to fall asleep. We toss and turn in bed, unable to drift off because of stress, anxiety, worries, and so on. Fortunately, Kipli knows a few natural remedies to help you finally fall asleep—and even sleep better! Secrets to Better Sleep Some people think that sleep comes naturally, that you fall asleep easily at the end of the day. Unfortunately, this isn’t always true, but here at Kipli, we can help when that doesn’t happen with some of our tips to promote sleep. The first step is definitely to make sure you’re sleeping in a room where you feel comfortable—one that promotes sleep and tranquility. In the bedroom, the bed takes center stage and deserves a little more attention than the rest of the furniture. It’s best, therefore, to choose a bed and mattress that suit your body type. In addition, the room’s lighting is very important. If you want to fall asleep as quickly as possible, we recommend turning off all the lights and, if necessary, lowering the temperature to 18°C. Be sure to open the windows and air out the room during the day to promote sleep and create a healthier living environment. To fall asleep in the blink of an eye, we strongly recommend eliminating all electronic devices (e.g., television) before going to bed. It’s best to eat dinner early, read a good book, and relax with the right music. Going to bed at the same time every night and choosing the perfect sleeping position—one that won’t leave you waking up with back pain—also helps increase your chances of getting a good night’s sleep. Which foods promote sleep? When we talk about natural ways to sleep better, we often forget about food. Indigestion doesn’t help you fall asleep, and caffeine, alcohol, and tobacco are strongly discouraged before bedtime. In addition to contributing to stress and anxiety, these substances do nothing to promote sleep because they increase brain activity. To fall asleep in the blink of an eye, opt instead for foods containing melatonin or magnesium. Melatonin is found in foods such as rice, bananas, spinach, fish, and tomatoes. As for sources of magnesium, you can find it in chocolate. Plant-based proteins also promote sleep; simply make a herbal tea with orange blossoms or bay leaves (one coffee spoonful in 250 ml of hot water) to feel a sense of drowsiness. Alternatively, infusions made with hawthorn, poppy, or chamomile also help (one tablespoon in 250 ml of hot water). If you like, you can also add a few drops of honey. The secret to a perfect night’s sleep: essential oils Whether taken orally or inhaled, the effectiveness of essential oils for promoting restful sleep is now well established. For example, lavender oil is famous for its relaxing properties, particularly for soothing the body’s muscles. How should you use it? You can add 10 drops of lavender oil to your bath foam or to milk. You can try using the same amounts with basil. If you prefer to inhale the vapors of essential oils, it’s best to mix a few together to help you relax even more. Two tablespoons of almond oil and one drop of ylang-ylang, lavender, or chamomile essential oil—and you’re all set... Finally, a more traditional method is to use marjoram oil. Apply one drop to your solar plexus, then a gentle massage is all it takes to immediately feel the relaxing effect. Natural Sleep Aids To avoid the side effects of conventional sleep aids, it’s best to use natural sleep aids. As homeopathic products, natural sleep aids are plant-based and sold in granule form at both pharmacies and stores specializing in homeopathy. Natural sleep aids may also be sold in syrup form. They come in various formulations, such as those based on essential oils (lemon balm, linden, chamomile, orange blossom, verbena, hops, lavender...). If your diet is low in magnesium, one solution would be to start taking a magnesium supplement to help you sleep better. Your mattress also affects the quality of your sleep. That’s why we’re always available to answer all your questions via chat—whether about our 100% natural latex mattress or how to combat nighttime leg cramps. See you soon, the Kipli team
A naturally dust-mite-resistant mattress
How can you get rid of dust mites in your mattress for good? Dust mites are sedentary arachnids. There are more than 50,000 different types of dust mites that typically live in fabrics such as cotton. But dust mites are also a common allergen; in fact, when present in significant concentrations, they can cause dermatitis and other skin reactions. To protect yourself and your mattress from dust mites, there are natural anti-mite products available. Dust Mites: Understanding Them Better to Deal with Them Better Dust mites aren’t just parasites that can cause allergies. While it’s true that they can trigger allergic skin reactions, they are used every day in certain fields. They are useful in the production of certain cheeses and are used by the police to determine the time of death. They reproduce in humid environments with temperatures between 20° and 30°, so a normally heated home provides the perfect conditions for dust mites to thrive. Add to that the fact that we often sweat at night, and we create an ideal environment. Mites feed on the dead human skin cells that we naturally shed every day, and then lay their eggs. These eggs hatch quickly, and the young mites rapidly reach adulthood. Just consider that, while a mite lives on average between 2 and 3 months, a female can lay between 20 and 80 eggs in 3 weeks. Their feces and even their dead bodies can cause allergic reactions in some people. That’s why it’s important to clean regularly and create an environment that’s unsuitable for their growth and reproduction. The first step is definitely to buy a natural latex mattress, which is naturally mite-resistant. The Natural Latex Mattress: Naturally Mite-Resistant There are several types of natural mite-resistant solutions. You can choose just one, or combine several for optimal results. In this article, we recommend a solution that will take very little time but is also long-lasting: purchasing a 100% natural latex mattress. Natural latex is completely dust-mite-resistant: it is a durable and highly breathable material that helps prevent the creation of the kind of environment that promotes dust mite growth. But that’s not all. Natural latex provides ideal back support without being too firm, allowing you to relax completely. It adapts to all body types and is classified as a Class 1 medical device. You can therefore claim a 19% tax deduction on your 730 tax return, thanks to a prescription from your primary care physician and the invoice issued by Kipli. Natural latex is also a hypoallergenic material that naturally inhibits mold growth. A Few More Tips for Combating Dust Mites Of course, there are other solutions for completely eliminating dust mites. If you don’t want to replace your mattress, simply add a few drops of essential oil to your laundry detergent when washing your sheets. Alternatively, you can make your own anti-dust mite spray to apply to your sheets. How? Just mix 20 ml of alcohol with 60 drops of lemon or tea tree essential oil. Then add 60 drops of clove essential oil, 60 drops of lavender, and 60 drops of cedarwood. Spray the mixture onto your freshly washed sheets and wait about an hour for them to dry and for the mixture to take effect. You can then remove the now-eliminated dust mites with a vacuum cleaner. Other complementary solutions include: - Air out your home. Open the windows to let in fresh air, which helps reduce humidity and lower the temperature. - Wash frequently. Vacuum at least once a week, including your mattress, sofas, and armchairs, to remove as many dust mites as possible. Wash your sheets at a minimum of 60° to eliminate any dust mites. If you have stuffed animals, simply place them in the freezer for 30 minutes to eliminate dust mites. In short, a well-ventilated, clean, and healthy home is the best defense against dust mites. Among the most effective ways to achieve this, the first step is definitely to buy a natural latex mattress, which is naturally dust-mite-resistant. Also, choose your bed frame carefully and opt for a slatted bed frame, which allows for better airflow.
Cleaning Your Mattress
How do you clean your mattress? We invest a lot of money in our mattresses and spend many hours on them. So it’s important to keep them clean, but that’s not always easy. There are particles invisible to the naked eye that need to be removed regularly by cleaning your mattress. Below, we’ll explain how to keep your mattress healthy and clean all year round. What to Do Before Cleaning Your Mattress First, you’ll need to clean the entire surface of your mattress. Don’t pour water directly onto it; instead, it’s best to use solid cleaning tools. For example, gloves, a sponge, or a damp cloth. Once you start the process, it’s best to finish it completely. There’s no point in cleaning the mattress in sections at different times. This will leave rings of dirt, and the result won’t be satisfactory. Cleaning the entire mattress in one go is therefore the best solution. Start first thing in the morning so your mattress has the whole day to dry. Ideally, do this on a sunny day to increase the chances that the mattress will be dry by evening, allowing you to use it. Avoid doing this at the end of the day or when it’s raining, as your mattress might still be wet by bedtime. What products should you use? There are several natural products you can use; here are our recommendations: Baking soda To thoroughly clean a mattress, it’s important to choose a product that effectively absorbs odors and sweat. The solution is baking soda, a completely natural product that eliminates odors and absorbs moisture. In short, it’s ideal. First, sprinkle the baking soda over the mattress. Then, using a brush or a small toothbrush, spread it evenly all over the surface. Wait 5 hours for the product to take effect, and then vacuum up the powder. Easy, right? Repeat this process regularly for a healthier home. White Wine Vinegar As an alternative to baking soda, you can use white wine vinegar to clean your mattress. Simply mix some vinegar with water in a basin. Using a cloth soaked in the solution, scrub the entire surface of the mattress to remove all impurities. Then let the mattress air dry, and finally, you can also add a few drops of lavender essential oil to freshen up your mattress. Do this regularly to ensure your mattress stays clean and to prevent dust mites from multiplying. It’s also a good idea to vacuum the mattress and your bed slats every now and then to remove all the dust mites. Wherever dust accumulates, these tiny creatures are likely to be present as well. If you have allergies, use anti-dust mite sheets for double protection. Protect your mattress with a mattress cover to prevent staining, and keep it clean by following the steps we’ve listed above—this will help you maintain a healthy mattress for years to come!

If you're on this page, you're probably thinking about buying a Kipli mattress, but you're not yet sure if it's right for you. You'd like to try it out and are wondering where. The Partnership with Greeneria However, Kipli has decided to collaborate with select partners who share our values and align with our principles. The Greeneria Project and the Green Economy Since 2016, GREENERIA has been bringing together producers and eco-designers in a project for the “ecological reconstruction of the universe,” which was launched with the goal of gradually replacing every product and service in daily life with others of higher quality and health benefits and lower environmental impact, for the benefit of both people and the environment. Like Kipli, the goal is to encourage a shift toward habits that follow the principles of the green economy. The green economy is an economic model that considers not only production but also the impact that production will have on the environment. The “Letto con Caffè” Concept GREENERIA’s “Letto con Caffè” concept offers guests the opportunity to stay in spacious, self-contained apartments, complete with a garden and all the amenities—including the Kipli mattress made from 100% natural latex—in a sort of “living showroom,” where all the materials used for the renovation, the room furnishings, and the breakfast items are natural or organic products, designed for you to enjoy as if you were at home. How to Book Your Stay If we’ve piqued your interest and you can’t wait to escape the city for a relaxing weekend in the Langhe on a Kipli mattress, now is the perfect time to book a stay at Greeneria directly on their website, by emailing info@greeneria.it, or by calling 0173 5925 58.
