Natural Ways to Sleep Better

Natural Ways to Sleep Better

A restful night’s sleep is the best remedy for the stresses and challenges of everyday life, but sometimes we just can’t seem to fall asleep. We toss and turn in bed, unable to drift off because of stress, anxiety, worries, and so on. Fortunately, Kipli knows a few natural remedies to help you finally fall asleep—and even sleep better!

Secrets to Better Sleep

Some people think that sleep is a natural process, that you fall asleep easily at the end of the day. Unfortunately, this isn't always true, but here at Kipli, we can help you when that doesn't happen with some of our tipsfor promoting sleep.

The first step is definitely to make sure you sleep in a room where you feel at ease—one that promotes sleep and tranquility. In the bedroom, the bed takes center stage and deserves a littlemore attentionthan the rest of the furniture. It’s best, therefore, to choose a bed and mattress that suit your body type. In addition, the room’s lighting is very important. If you want to fall asleep as quickly as possible, we recommend turning off all the lights and, if necessary, lowering the temperature to 18°C. Be sure to open the windows and air out the room during the day to promote sleep and create a healthier living environment.

To fall asleep in the blink of an eye, we strongly recommend that you turn off all electronic devices (e.g., the TV) before going to bed. It’s best to eat dinner early, read a good book, and relax with some soothing music. Go to bed at the same time every night and find the perfect sleeping position that won’t leave you waking up with back pain—these steps also help increase your chances of getting a good night’s sleep.

Which foods promote sleep?

When we talk about natural ways to sleep better, we often forget about food. Indigestion doesn’t help you fall asleep, and caffeine, alcohol, and tobacco are strongly discouraged before bedtime. In addition to contributing to stress and anxiety, these substances do nothing to promote sleep, as they increase brain activity.

To fall asleep in the blink of aneye, opt for foods that contain melatonin or magnesium. Melatonin is found in foods such as rice, bananas, spinach, fish, and tomatoes. As for sources of magnesium, you can find it in chocolate. Plant-based proteins also promote sleep; simply make yourself a herbal tea made from orange blossoms or bay leaves (one teaspoon in 250 ml of hot water) to feel drowsy. Alternatively, infusions made from hawthorn, poppy, or chamomile also help (one tablespoon in 250 ml of hot water). If you like, you can also add a few drops of honey.

The Secret to a Perfect Night's Sleep: Essential Oils

Whether taken orally or inhaled, the effectiveness of essential oils in promoting a good night’s sleep is now well known; for example, lavender oil is famous for its relaxing properties, particularly its ability to soothe the body’s muscles.

Howshould you useit? You cass 10 drops of lavender oil into your bubble bath or body lotion. You can try using the same amounts with b asil. If you prefer to inhale the vapors of essential oils, it’s best to mix a few together to help you relax even more. Two tablespoons of almond oil and one drop of ylang-ylang, lavender, or chamomile essential oil—and you’re all set... Finally, a more traditional method is to use marjoram oil. Apply one drop to your solar plexus, then gently massage the area to immediately feel the relaxing effect.

Natural Sleep Aids

To avoid the side effects of conventional sleeping pills, it is preferable to use natural sleeping aids. As homeopathic products, natural sleeping aids are plant-based and are sold in granule form both in pharmacies and in stores specializing in homeopathy. Natural sleeping aids canalso be sold in syrup form.

They come in various formulations, such as those based on essential oils (lemon balm,, linden, chamomile, orange blossom, verbena, hops, lavender...). If your diet is low r magnesium, one solution could be to start a magnesium supplement regimen to help you sleep better. Your mattress also affects the quality of your sleep.
