Handcrafted production, a century of expertise

We share the same values and commitment to creating a 100% natural product as this artisanal company from Aveyron, which has been carrying out its mission since 1896 . We use local wool (sourced within 100 km of the workshop) or organic cotton for the core of our products.

They are then covered with a beautiful French linen cover. Each piece is unique, made to order, and entirely by hand. After 10 years, you can even have your futon re-stuffed to extend its lifespan.

The Soul of Wool

Our wool comes from farmers in the Aveyron, Lot, and Tarn-et-Garonne regions. It is collected directly by the artisan and then washed by hand using only spring water from the mill, without soap or chemicals.

We use this pure wool in multiple layers, which provides exceptionally soft comfort for the futon’s core, with a thickness of 16 cm. With its moisture-wicking and body-temperature-regulating properties, wool is an inexhaustible natural resource.

The Soul of Organic Cotton

The 13-cm filling is made from 9 layers of organic cotton. Organic cotton, which requires less water to grow, allows us to produce a filling that is healthier for us and the planet.

The organic cotton layers are carded. Carding is a process in which textile fibers are manually separated and fluffed from the raw material. Cotton provides a slightly firmer feel to the futon than wool.

Linen: A Healthy and Eco-Friendly Material

The cover on both futon models is made of 100% unbleached linen. Woven in France from French fibers, it is undyed, untreated, and finished with potato starch.

Flax is an eco-friendly fiber that requires very little water and is locally sourced (France is the world’s leading producer). It guarantees a durable, locally sourced, and elegant cover!

The Choice of Excellence for a Natural Interior

Locally Made

The mattress is manufactured entirely in France, in the Aveyron region.

Why Choose a Natural Futon: Everything You Need to Know:

The futon originally comes from Japan. It has been adapted for Western societies to be larger and thicker, taking on the shape of the traditional mattress we are more familiar with.

The futon stands on its own; it can be placed on a bed or laid directly on the floor for those who prefer a low sleeping surface and appreciate its minimalist, Japanese-style design.

As part of our line of eco-friendly and healthy products, we have developed two models of natural futons, handcrafted in the Aveyron region of France.

Durable and comfortable, they'll keep you comfortable for a natural night's sleep.

To create these products, we chose to collaborate with French artisans who have centuries of expertise and share our values. Since the manufacturing process is not industrial, every piece that leaves the workshop is one-of-a-kind.

Free of synthetic materials, KIPLI’s natural futons are made exclusively from high-quality materials crafted in accordance with traditional methods.

We wanted to offer two types of natural futons with different fillings: one filled with wool and one filled with organic cotton. Both are covered with a linen cover that is also made in France. Neither the filling of the natural futons nor the linen cover has undergone any treatment.

The wool used in the first futon model comes from local farms within 100 km of the workshop and is then hand-washed with spring water from the mill. The wool’s key qualities are its thermoregulatory properties and its eco-friendly nature. Its durability ensures that the futon retains its shape over the long term. It shows very little deformation, even after 10 years of use. The filling is substantial, giving this futon a height of 16 cm. The density of the wool futon is 40 kg/m³.

For those who wish to avoid animal-derived materials, the organic cotton futon is just as comfortable. It is 13 cm thick and consists of 9 layers of organic cotton, which makes it firmer than the wool futon. It has a density of 76 kg/m³.

The linen cover of natural futons is undyed and untreated. It is woven in France and finished with potato starch. Its subtle, neutral color allows it to blend into any type of interior.

In terms of comfort, KIPLI natural futons have the advantage of being much firmer than mattresses. They are the ideal alternative to the soft or medium-firm comfort of other bedding options. They offer exceptional sleep independence.

KIPLI natural futons can be placed on any type of bed frame. They pair very well with our line of solid wood beds. They are easy to handle because they are lightweight and, in general, less bulky than mattresses. This means they can be stored without taking up much space, and when moving, you can simply keep them rolled up for transport.

In fact, we ship our two models of natural futons rolled up, with an average delivery time of 4 weeks.

When they are delivered, you should turn them over regularly during the first few weeks of use. This is because the filling takes about 3 weeks to settle into its final, even shape. However, you can use them normally throughout this period. If you have any questions, KIPLI customer service is available via chat, email, or phone.

KIPLI natural futons are available in all single and double sizes: from 80×200 to 200×200, including the most standard sizes such as the 140×190 futon and the 160×200 futon.

Caring for our natural futons is easy. We recommend vacuuming the cover from time to time (especially the tufting and the piping around the edges) to remove dust.

KIPLI natural futons are covered by a 5-year warranty against any manufacturing defect that would cause the product to deteriorate prematurely.

We make a point of working with passionate artisans not only to offer our customers the very best products, but also to build a relationship based on trust—and thus one that lasts. In keeping with our commitment to sustainability, KIPLI natural futons can be refilled upon request after about ten years of use. The average lifespan of KIPLI natural futons is 10 years, but this can be extended through refilling.

With KIPLI’s natural futons, we wanted to expand our mattress lineup by offering firm-sleeping products that are handcrafted locally in France—all while ensuring they remain eco-friendly, sustainable, and comfortable.

The minimalist Eastern aesthetic embodied by natural futons will add a unique charm to your bedroom.
