The Secrets Behind the Quality of the PALM Linen Sofa Bed...

After briefly analyzing the sofa market, we quickly came to the unfortunate conclusion that most of these products are made from synthetic materials ( polyester, polyurethane, etc.) and that customer reviews are less than glowing due to their short lifespan and modest comfort.

We therefore wanted to offer a natural alternative to these low-quality products that contribute to indoor air pollution.

The first challenge was to replace the polyester in the cushions that make up the seat and backrest. It was only natural that we chose natural latex, which we already use to make our mattresses and pillows that offer unparalleled comfort.

Sofa beds are typically upholstered in polyester, a synthetic fabric that isn’t very breathable and wears out quickly. As an alternative, we’ve chosen linen, an eco-friendly and very attractive material. Woven in France by Lemaitre Demeestere, a company with 150 years of expertise, our upholstery supports short supply chains and local employment.

For the structure, we opted for solid wood. This material has the advantage of being strong and durable, ensuring an optimal lifespan and, therefore, responsible consumption.

The main factors to consider when buying a sofa bed are its appearance and, of course, its comfort. In fact, most mattresses are designed as temporary sleeping surfaces—they tend to be uncomfortable, not very breathable, and not very durable.

To ensure you can sleep on your sofa bed every day and that it becomes a great everyday sofa bed, we’ve made the mattress a top priority. Its 15-cm core is made of natural latex, and thanks to its properties, it offers optimal comfort, excellent sleep independence, and optimal breathability.

In addition, to ensure that you can fully enjoy its benefits every day, it was essential that the sleeper sofa be easy to unfold and fold back up. Its high-quality French mechanism allows for smooth, creak-free movement.

To maximize its lifespan, the covers on the sofa bed are removable and can be dry-cleaned. If a stain is permanent, you can also replace a single cover.

When you’re looking to buy a sofa bed, it’s easy to feel overwhelmed by the sheer number of options. Brands also use different terms, which can be even more confusing: BZ, convertible sofa, Rapido sofa, fold-out sofa, clic-clac, bed. In reality, these products serve the same purpose—they’re sofas that provide a place to sleep. The main difference is how they unfold, but otherwise, they’re the same products.

There are also several thickness options, ranging from a minimum of 5 cm to an average of 12 cm. However, these mattresses do not provide optimal comfort for everyday use. That is why we recommend a thickness of 15 cm, especially for 100% natural latex.

Once you’ve selected a model, you’ll need to choose the size of your sofa. There are 2-seater sofa beds, 3-seater sofa beds, and even 4-seater sofa beds. Consider your available space, preferably leaving a little room on each side, and also make sure to leave enough width for a clear path when the bed is unfolded. For smaller spaces, opt for a 3-seater sofa; choose a 4-seater if you have more space.

If you'd like to create a corner sleeper sofa, you can also choose our linen ottoman, which comes in the same color as your sofa. You can place it on whichever side you prefer and also use it as an extra seat.
